'You are what you eat' has never been truer if you truly want to get that glow from within.
Eating an abundance of healthy foods can help improve your complexion hugely by essentially reducing inflammation and providing your body with the strength to build and restore healthy tissue. Not only that, but certain nutrients can also help to balance your hormones. An imbalance in hormones is a well-known culprit for angry breakouts, dryness or excess oiliness.

Blueberries
Bursting with vitamins A, C and E, blueberries have a multitude of beautifying benefits for your skin. They are a real superfood when it comes to their antioxidant levels, which protect your skin from free radical damage and help keep it looking youthful and firm. Eating these little blue treats daily can encourage collagen production, smooth fine lines, brighten dull complexions and they're also shown to reduce the risk of hormonal breakouts. Simply delicious sprinkled on your porridge or in a smoothie bowl, what's not to love!
Pumpkin seeds
Tiny but powerful, these little seeds are one of the most nutritious foods you can eat for your skin health. They are rich in vitamin E, zinc, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids as well as antioxidants, which will help to retain moisture, fight free radicals and maintain a glowing, youthful complexion. We love sprinkling them over salads and adding them to pasta dishes for that extra crunch.
Avocados
Avocados are packed with essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E and should be a firm favourite in your glow-up nutrition plan. The good fats in avocados are great for the hydration and health of your cell membranes. These membranes act as the protector of your skin cells, keeping the toxins out and allowing the good stuff in. One of my favourite avo snacks for you to try; toasted rye bread, topped with smashed avocado, chopped baby tomatoes, a sprinkling of pumpkin seeds, a small drizzle of olive oil and chilli flakes - it's honestly delicious and reminds me of a healthy version of bruschetta!
Carrots
The high content of beta-carotene and their generous helping of vitamin C and A in carrots helps to soothe skin inflammation, brighten up dark spots, reduce pigmentation and help you achieve that dewy, plump glow. Carrots can help skin heal from acne and scars by stimulating collagen production. Grate them into stir-fries, add them to your hearty comfort dishes such as shepherd's pie or just enjoy them with a huge hunk of houmous!
Chia seeds
The 'chia seed glow' is real! Just a single tablespoon of Chia seeds gives the body so many skin-loving benefits, it’s almost unbelievable! This measure gives more calcium than a serving of milk, has almost half your RDA of fibre and contains more Omega-3 fatty acids than a slice of salmon. They are also packed with essential vitamins including A, B, D and E, omega-3, and a whole range of minerals including magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, iodine, zinc and copper... wowies! You can add them to pretty much anything!
